Minecraft Live: What's new in Minecraft?

Minecraft live

The Main Point

They announced a ton of cool stuff at Minecraft Live. I am very excited for what is to come. It is amazing how many cool things that they are going to add. The caves and cliffs update sounds like it is going to be amazing, and it will finally add some diversity to caves and mountains. There are many other things that are coming to Minecraft, so stay tuned.

The Minecraft Live event this year was really exciting. They announced a lot of new features that we had been waiting for. The caves update was the most upvoted thing on minecrafts feedback page. They are also coming out with a new mob, and a really cool cliffs update. I am really excited for all of these new things to get added to Minecraft. I can’t wait to explore everything new. It’s just kind of annoying that we have to wait until summer 2021 for the new updates. I don’t know if I can wait that long!

The Caves Update

The caves update is probably going to be one of the biggest editions to Minecraft ever. The diversity that they are going to add to caves is going to be amazing. First of all, caves will be able to be way different in shape. They can be small little tunnels, to huge open caverns. There will also be the possibility of lakes spawning in caves. This will allow for diverse water levels, including underground waterfalls. There will also be two new ores, copper and amethyst. They can currently be used to make a telescope, and that is all.

Lush Caves

The next new feature is lush caves. These will be caves filled with greenery and plants. There will be glow berries, what looks like grass carpet and many other new items. These caves look like they will be really cool, and I can’t wait to see one for myself. You will be able to find them from above ground by finding this berry tree. If you dig straight down from this, you will find a lush cave. These caves are also filled with little ponds. These ponds can spawn a new mob called Axolotls, but we will talk more about those later.

Dripstone Caverns

The next type of caves is called dripstone caverns. These huge caves will have huge stalactites and stalagmites. Stalactites, which hang from the ceiling, will be able to drip water down from above. This water can be held in a cauldron. Stalagmites, which stick off of the ground, will hurt any player or mob that walks into them. This will be useful for traps and mob grinders. Overall, the dripstone caverns seem like they will be really cool.

The Deep Dark

The last new type of cave is called the deep dark. This is a scary place below all other caves. As the name implies, it is very dark down here. There is also a new mob down here, and it is very scary. It is called the warden, and we will talk more about it later. There are also two new blocks that were shown in the trailer. These are candles, and a new, much more interesting block, skulk. Skulk is a new block that will allow you to wirelessly send redstone signals across a few blocks. It can sense vibrations within a certain radius. This is what allows it to wirelessly transfer a redstone signal, and recognize when something comes near. This will be very useful for redstone.

The Cliffs Update

The cliffs update may not add as many cool things as the caves update, but it is still going to be awesome. It is going to add a lot of diversity to mountains and a lot of the overworld of Minecraft. Mountains will now be much more diverse and realistic, with far more slanted slopes and less flat cliffs. There will also be a tree line, where like in real life, there isn’t enough oxygen for trees to grow above it. The tops of mountains will also have a new type of snow that you can fall through. All of these features should make Minecraft mountains much better. There will also be goats up on top of the mountains. Goats were picked at last years Minecraft Live event, and are now finally going to be added. We will talk more about the new goats later, though. The new cliffs update seems like it should make Minecraft more enjoyable, but only from above ground.

Other New Things

The new caves and mountains aren’t the only new things in this update. There are many more new features that Mojang is going to be adding.

New mobs

There are four new mobs that are going to be added to Minecraft in the Caves and Cliffs update. The Glow Squid, Axolotl, Warden and Goat. The glow squid appears to just be a re-textured squid, so I am kind of disappointed in this one. The axolotls look like they will be really cool. They will spawn in lush caves and live in water. You will be able to tame them and pick them up in water buckets. You will also be able to have a bunch of them follow you and fight things in the water. The warden is going to be the deep dark’s new mob. He has a ton of health and can deal 6 hearts of damage to a player in full netherite armor. His only weakness is that he can’t see, so you will have to use this against him to defeat him. The final mob is the goat. Goats will spawn on mountains and look really cool. They will be able to headbut players and mobs, which will send them flying. These new mobs seem like they will be really cool.

Archaeology

Finally, there is going to be a new archaeology feature. You will be able to take a brush, which is a new item, and use it on gravel, dirt or sand. When doing this, you will take some off layer by layer. You have the chance of finding a few different items. From what we know, you can find a diamond or emerald block. You will also be able to get pieces of ancient pots and put them together to form a pot. It may also be possible to use the new brush to make cool builds. There will also be archaeology sites that you will be able to find. These sites will have brushes, possibly some other items and a dig site. The new archaeology feature seems like it will be really cool.
