The Main Point

Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked Event Explained. There were a ton of new things announced at the Galaxy Unpacked 2021 event, and I’m very excited to see them all release. The Galaxy S21 seems like it will be an amazing phone, and I can’t wait to hear about the Galaxy Buds Pro. Hopefully this year will be another great year for tech!

Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event was amazing. They announced so many new, cool products and features. It was one of the longest events that I have watched in a while, but they managed to keep it quite entertaining. The production quality of this event was extremely high, even on par with what Apple has been doing for their events. Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event was truly great.

Samsung Galaxy S21, S21 Plus & S21 Ultra

The Galaxy S21, S21 Plus & S21 Ultra all seem like amazing phones. There isn’t too much difference between the three, though, as the main three differences between them are the cameras, display and colors. Also, the S pen can be used only on the S21 Ultra. They are still all great phones, though, no matter how little difference there is.

Design

These new Galaxy phones have a whole new design, with the phones being entirely metal and having tougher glass. This should make them much more durable than before. There is also a much larger camera bump, which protects them more, but might not work for everyone. Now, onto colors. The S21 comes in phantom violet, phantom gray, phantom pink and phantom white. Second, we have the S21 Plus, which comes in phantom violet, phantom silver, phantom black, phantom gold and phantom red ( The last two are available only from Samsung’s website). Finally, we have the S21 Ultra, which comes in phantom black, phantom silver, phantom brown, phantom navy and phantom titanium ( The last three are only available from Samsung’s website).

Screen

The new Galaxy lineup also has a ton of new display features. This includes a 120hz refresh rate that is adaptive between 48hz and 120hz, as well as improved blue light protection. The display resolution of the S21 is only 2400×1080, which is lower than the S20. This display is also flat, rather than curved as the Galaxy’s displays were in the past. For the display sizes, we have a 6.2 inch display on the S21, a 6.7 inch display on the S21 Plus and a huge 6.8 inch display on the S21 Ultra. The S21 Plus has the same screen, besides size, as the S21, but the S21 Ultra has a display with a resolution of 3200×1400. It also has an adaptive refresh rate that goes from 120hz down to 10hz.

Cameras

When it comes to the cameras on this new Galaxy lineup, everything is better. The S21 has three cameras, and all three are better than last generation. It also has new photo processing hardware that has better AI. This new camera setup also allows you to record 8K video and take pictures at the same time. There is also a new multicamera view that allows you to switch between cameras while recording, as well as view all of them. The S21 Ultra, though, blows these cameras out of the water. It has a new 108-megapixel image sensor that helps when taking low light photos. In all, the S21 Ultra has 4 cameras, and they are all very good.

New Chip

All of the new Galaxy phones also feature the Snapdragon 888 chip, which is the latest and greatest. This chip is also paired with updated security hardware. Samsung also worked with game companies, such as Unity, to allow the new Galaxies to run games even better. We don’t yet know exactly how powerful this chip is, as there are no benchmarks, but it will likely be one of the best.

Other Specs

Samsung’s new Galaxy lineup also has some other very high end specs. This includes 8gb of ram on the S21 and S21 Plus, as well as 12gb or 16gb of ram on the S21 Ultra. For storage options, on the S21 and S21 Plus, you can choose either 128gb or 256gb. The S21 Ultra can either have those options, or 512gb ( I don’t know how you could possibly need that much storage on a phone). Sadly, the micro SD card slot has been removed from these phones.

Software

These new Galaxy Phones will also feature Samsung’s new One UI 3. This new operating system should allow more compatibility with Google and Microsoft. Also, there will be many changes to the look and feel of the Android version on the S21 lineup, such as a new drop down menu. You will also be able to add more widgets to the lock screen. There will be many other features, but those are just some examples.

Pricing

Finally, we have the pricing. These phones are all much more reasonably priced than Samsung’s lineup from last year, with the S21 starting at only $800. The S21 Plus also starts at $1000, and the S21 Ultra starts at $1200. That is $200 less than the cost for each of these models in last years lineup.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro

The Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro were also announced at the Galaxy Unpacked event. These are Samsung’s best pair of true wireless earbuds. They have a dual speaker system, come in three different colors and aren’t insanely overpriced. These new earbuds also have motion tracking sensors, as well as Dolby audio. This provides an immersive, 360 degree surround experience. They also have active noise cancellation, and, according to Samsung, they are quite comfortable. These new earbuds cost $200, and if you want more information on them, you can read our other article on them: The Price For The Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro Just Leaked.

SmartThings

SmartThings has also received some changes, with the largest being the Galaxy SmartTag and SmartTag Plus. These are basically Tiles that work in the SmartThings app. SmartThings can also track many new things now, such as your car. They have also paired SmartThings with Android Auto to create a seamless experience while driving. The SmartTag will retail at $29.99, and the SmartTag Plus will start at $39.99. Whether this becomes a real Tile competitor or not is yet to be seen.
