The Main Point

Android 10 is now on the Nintendo Switch, and that could be really cool. This was done by the same people that originally got Android onto the Switch. Sadly, this will only work on some Switch models. Also, Nintendo does not approve of this, which isn’t surprising.

The Nintendo Switch is currently the most popular console in the world. For being three years old, it is still doing extremely well. People have also been figuring out new ways to get even more out of your Switch. The main people adding new functionality are the Switchroot team. They are the group behind the original download for Android on Switch. Switchroot has now updated the Android download, and it is even better than before.

Why would you want Android on your Switch?

There are many reasons that it would be great to have Android on a Switch. First of all, it allows you to download a ton of apps that you normally can’t get. This includes streaming services, such as Netflix and Disney Plus, as well as many other apps. You would also be able to play mobile games on your Switch. That would be so much better than trying to play games on a phone. The Switch has real controllers, which would allow you to play games on mobile much easier. Imagine playing mobile shooters with a controller that is attached to your device. There are also many emulators available on Android, and that means that you can play games from older Nintendo consoles on the Switch for free. Nintendo obviously hates that Android can be downloaded on the Switch, though.

What did they change in the update?

Switchroot changed a ton of things in this update to the Switch version of Android. First of all, they updated it to Android 10. That is so much better than the old version, which was on Android 8. This should add a ton of functionality, as well as many new apps and games. Some more changes they made include making the joysticks work as analog sticks, rather than 8 direction d-pads. They also added easier updates and better Wi-Fi connection. If you do want to download this, you need to be careful. First of all, this only works on the version of the Switch before the chipset and battery upgrades. That means that it does not work on the Switch Lite or the red box Switch. Also, there is a possibility that this could brick your Switch if you mess up the install at all. So, if you decide to download Android for your Switch, be careful.
