Google Is Being Sued Over Incognito Mode Issues

The Main Point

Google is being sued over Incognito mode issues, and this is very bad. Incognito mode was supposed to be fully private, but Google is still tracking you. This is a huge deal, because Google lied about not tracking users on Incognito mode. They are even being sued for $5 billion over this.

Google is one of the largest companies in the world. They are also extremely well known for collecting a ton of data about their users and being a very large ad provider. Almost everyone knows that Google gives away your data to other companies. That is why many people use Incognito mode to make their browsing experience more private, but we now know that that isn’t exactly true. And, Google is being sued because of it.

What does Incognito mode actually do?

Incognito mode does supposedly still keep Google from tracking some things. Whether that is actually true or not, we do not yet know. But, there are quite a few things that Google claims that Incognito mode does do. First of all, it keeps your data from being saved to the device. So, anyone else using that device will not be able to see what you were doing. It also keeps Google from providing you targeted search results. This does not affect websites, though, and that means that websites can still get your data. Google will also not save any data that you entered into sites, or any cookies or site data. It does not stop a school, workplace or your internet service provider from seeing your data, though. In short, Incognito mode doesn’t do much other than not saving your data to your device.

What is the lawsuit for?

Google is being sued for multiple reasons involving Incognito mode. There are multiple consumers suing Google for a total of $5 billion, which is a huge amount of money. They say that Google is in violation of wiretapping and privacy laws for tracking, intercepting and collecting information during use of Incognito mode. This basically means that users are being tracked while using Incognito mode. The consumers suing claimed, though, that they thought that Incognito mode offered full privacy. You can easily see that some of your data is still collected, because when you go Incognito, Google gives you a message. This message tells you a few things that Google will still track. But, Google may still be tracking some other things that they don’t tell you about. I am very interested to see how this turns out, because it could be interesting.
